Profile
After graduating from university, Yuko worked in the marketing department of a well-established Japanese food company, in charge of planning and design.
Later, she worked as an art director in the in-house design room of a printing company, beverage company, and confectionery company, where she oversaw product design, package design, and advertising.
Moved to the U.S. in 2013
Yuko spent time as a student in New York and Hawaii. After studying Culinary Arts at a college in Hawaii, she worked at an Italian restaurant and a Japanese restaurant, while also working as a designer for Japanese companies and local clients.
She then became Vice President of the Planning and Marketing Department at Shirokiya Holdings Inc., where she was placed in charge of various creative works.
Yuko then moved to LA in 2020, and established naru creative works, LLC in May 2021.
As a bridge between Japan, Hawaii and LA, we offer a variety of creative work. We respect fiduciary duty and take care of our customers.
Philosophy
In the field of commercial design, knowledge of both the technical and software development aspects is necessary. Furthermore, it is even more important to understand all facets of a project, including the ordering process and the client’s end. The most important thing is teamwork. The most essential foundation of any job is to respect each other's professional skills and knowledge as a team.
The U.S. which I thought I’d known while in Japan, was in fact different from the U.S. I actually lived in and came to understand. The United States is a country that values teamwork among many ethnic groups. After the COVID-19 Pandemic, the world will become even more global.
In the future, human beings may inhabit not only Earth but also move on to other planets. There are many things that need to be considered on a global scale, with various industries shifting their focus from corporate matters to customer matters. Teamwork between countries is essential.
It will continue to be necessary to spread Japan's wonderful culture to other countries. In particular, Japanese food culture should be better shared with the rest of the world. My mission is to do so, while also bringing the wonderful pioneering spirit of America to Japan. I would like to convey the beauty of Japan through design.
We are based in LA, Hawaii, and Japan, and hope to act as a bridge in any way we can.
